Fishing

Tourists and residents alike are welcome to fish in the Melville Dam with a valid Saskatchewan Fishing License. The Melville Dam welcomes electric-motor boats, kayaks, canoes, and fishing from the dock during the open water season. Fish that can be found are Northern Pike, Perch, and Walleye. Pike can be found predominantly on the west end of the Dam. During the winter months, ice fishing is also enjoyed by many. Fishing from the observation deck is not permitted.

Along with the Melville Dam, youth with a valid Melville Fish and Game License can take part in catch-and-release fishing in the Youth Centennial Trout Pond, located north of Highway 10 behind the water treatment plant. To purchase a Melville Fish and Game Membership, contact Ken Somogyi at 728-2244.
