The City of Melville is located in South Eastern Saskatchewan along Highway #10.  There are 3 provincial highways that pass through Melville (#10, #47 and #15) and CN Rail has one of its largest railyard investments in Saskatchewan located in Melville. Melville has an active Asset Management Plan that focuses on infrastructure investment and has the infrastructure necessary to support value added, agricultural industry. Agriculture is the city's pioneer industry and the rich harvest of farm and ranch form the hard base of the economy. The City of Melville is a clean, safe and friendly community of approximately 4,500 residents which constitutes an excellent environment to live, work, play, raise a family and retire.

Besides being known as a great family community, Melville and the surrounding region is certainly known as a recreation lover’s dream.  Within the winter months, the area focuses mainly on hockey. Melville is home to the Millionaires of the Saskatchewan Junior "A” Hockey League.

The minor hockey program in Melville is extraordinary as all possible age groups are thriving.  Aside from hockey there are many various wintertime activities that occur in our community such as curling, ice fishing, snowmobiling cross-country skiing, figure skating, speed skating archery and many more. Summertime is certainly just as entertaining. Baseball, fastball and slo-pitch are very popular pastimes.  

Golfers can hit the links at one of the two 18-hole masterful walk-on grass-green golf courses or the 9-hole walk-on sand-green course within this region. Citizens stay busy at the Melville Swimming Pool, community tennis courts, walking trails, quad and all-terrain vehicle derbies, Melville skateboard/rollerblade park, an indoor horse-riding arena and at many other venues.

Agriculture is the city's pioneer industry and the rich harvest of farm and ranch form the hard base of the economy. The rural trading area population of 50,000 supports a growing complex and is a major food production area of Saskatchewan, noted for its outputs of grain, livestock, poultry and dairy products.

Melville has seen a great deal of growth and development over the past few years.  Saskatchewan Crop Insurance completed a 13 million dollar Agristability expansion.  This brought over 110 new jobs to our community.  Caleb Village has constructed a 17 million dollar 94 unit retirement condominiums.  BHP Billiton is conducting potash exploration in Melville and the surrounding community. The newest addition to Melville is the Horizon Credit Union Centre, completed the summer of 2012.  This is a 26.5 million dollar Communiplex which includes: 1525 seat NHL size arena, 500 convention centre, walking track, and Cardiac Care and Family Fitness Centre.  This facility will be a health and wellness, skating, community and cultural centre for Melville and the surrounding communities.
